Space Cats is a game by Gausaa Games ("we"). This policy explains what the game does with information about you.
To delete your data, see Deleting your data.
What comes to us
Space Cats has:
no ads and no advertising ID,
no analytics or tracking,
no in-app purchases,
no e-mail addresses, phone numbers, contacts, location or device identifiers collected, and a name only if you
use Google Play Games and ONLINE (the name on your Play Games profile: see
Your Gausaa Games account).
The only thing that comes to us is what ONLINE play needs, and only if you open ONLINE: an online account with
no sign-in and its ranked fights (see Online play), and, if you are signed in to Google Play Games,
the link between your Play Games account and your one Gausaa Games account (see
Your Gausaa Games account). The rest of what can leave your device is described below: your
achievements and scores, only if you use Google Play Games, and what a Wi-Fi battle sends to the other player's
device.
Google Play Games (optional)
On Android, Space Cats uses Google Play Games Services for achievements and leaderboards. You can play the whole
game without it.
Signing in. If you have a Google Play Games profile, Play Games may sign you in when the game
starts. If you are not signed in, the game works just the same, and you can sign in later from PROGRESS (the
trophy in the main menu), on its MISSIONS or RECORDS tab.
What is sent. While you are signed in, the game sends Google your achievements (the missions
you finish and your progress towards them) and your scores on three leaderboards (arcade high score, best survival
run and best combo), together with your Play Games player ID. The Play Games software in the game also sends
Google technical information (diagnostics) to keep the service working.
Who receives it. This information goes to Google, which runs Google Play Games under the
Google Privacy Policy. We do not receive it: we only see the
leaderboards, like any player, and totals such as how many players earned an achievement. If you open ONLINE while
signed in, Google tells our Gausaa ID service two ids of your Play Games account and its Play Games name, nothing
else (see
Your Gausaa Games account).
Who sees it. Your Play Games name, avatar, achievements and scores can be seen by other
players as your Play Games profile settings allow (everyone, friends only, or only you).
Your choices. You can play without signing in. You can delete your Play Games data for Space
Cats, or your whole Play Games profile, in your Google Play Games profile settings or your Google Account.
Online play (optional)
ONLINE in the main menu lets you play ranked fights against other players over the internet, or against an "AI
ghost" when nobody near your level is online. It uses our server, which runs on Cloudflare's network (Cloudflare,
Inc. hosts it for us and processes this data only to run it). You can play everything else without ever opening
ONLINE, and nothing is sent to our server until you do.
Your online account. The first time you open ONLINE, the game makes an account for you: no
name, e-mail, password or sign-in. It is a random id, a random number shown as your #tag (like #4821), a random
handle other players' games use to name you in a report or a block, and a secret key that stays in the game's save on your device; our server keeps only a scrambled fingerprint of the key. If you
are signed in to Google Play Games, the account is also linked to your Gausaa Games account (below).
What our server keeps. For the account: your #tag, the title and avatar frame you chose in
the game, your Google Play Games name (only if you are signed in to Play Games: the name on your Play Games profile,
never your Google account's own name), the fighter and skin you last searched with, your ranked points, a hidden skill rating, your wins,
losses and streak, this season's wins, losses, best streak and best result, the season's rank road rewards already
paid and your promotion shield, the ranked titles and frames you earned, your ranked wins and fights with each
fighter (and the points won with each this season), your final and best points in past seasons, and an unclaimed
season reward. For each ranked fight: which accounts fought with which fighters, who won, how the points changed,
how it ended and when.
During a fight against another player. Your fighter, colours, skin, title, Play Games name,
avatar frame and aura, and the game version pass through our server to the other player's device, which computes the same fight.
Your button presses go straight to the other player's device where your two networks allow it (a direct, encrypted
connection between the two devices), and otherwise through our server too. None of it is stored.
Who sees it. Other players see your Play Games name (or, without one, your title and #tag),
your title, avatar frame, fighter and skin, your league and
points, your win streak, your mastery of the fighter you play and your places on the ladder and on that fighter's
ladder, in matches and on the ladders. When nobody near a player's level is online, your fighter, skin, title and
league may be used for an AI ghost that the computer plays against them, and theirs for yours; the game always
says when an opponent is an AI ghost.
Reports and blocks. If you REPORT another player, our server keeps who reported whom, the
reason (their name, or cheating), the name at that moment and when, for at most 90 days, so that we can look into it;
we do not tell the reported player who it was. A name reported by several players, or one we find breaks the
rules, is hidden from everyone. If you BLOCK a player, our server keeps that until you lift
it (ONLINE > ACCOUNT) or either account is deleted: you are not matched with them again and their name is not
shown to you.
Your network address. Like any server, ours sees your device's internet address while you
play online. We use it only to limit how many new accounts one address can make in an hour, keep it in memory for
at most that hour and never store it. For the direct connection, the two devices in a fight against another
player tell each other their network addresses (internet and local network) through our server, so the other
player's device learns yours, as in any game that connects players directly; the game neither shows nor keeps it.
Cloudflare's STUN service, which tells your device its internet address for this, sees it too. Cloudflare keeps
its own request logs as described in its privacy policy.
Why. Only to run online play: matching you with players near your level, settling fights
fairly, keeping the ladder and the seasons, and acting on reports. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else, and nothing is used for
advertising.
How long. As long as the account exists. Accounts not used for a year are deleted, and fights
older than a year too. Deleting your account (below) removes it at once, with the reports and blocks by or about
it.
Security. Everything between the game and our server is encrypted (HTTPS), and so is the
direct connection between two devices (DTLS, as in every WebRTC connection).
Your Gausaa Games account (optional)
Gausaa Games makes more than one game. Through Google Play Games you get one account for all of them, so your
online account comes back on a new phone, and our other games can recognise you as they get online play.
When. Only if you are signed in to Google Play Games when you open ONLINE. The game then asks
Google Play Games for a one-time code and sends it to our Gausaa ID service, which gets from Google two ids of your
Play Games account - your player id in Space Cats, and a key that is the same in every game Gausaa Games publishes
on Google Play - and the name on your Play Games profile, which it passes on to our server (it does not keep it) so
that other players see that name instead of your title and #tag. Google tells us nothing else: no e-mail, picture,
achievements or scores, and never your Google account's own name. You sign in to nothing new, and if you are not
signed in to Play Games none of this happens and your online account shows only your title and #tag.
What is kept. Gausaa ID keeps a random id for your Gausaa Games account, scrambled
fingerprints of the two Play Games ids, which of our games you used it in, and when it was made and last used. Our
Space Cats server keeps which Gausaa Games account your online account is linked to, and a scrambled fingerprint of
the key of each other phone that signed in to it.
Why. Only to recognise you: to link your online account to your Play Games account, to give it
back to a new phone or after a reinstall when you sign in to the same Play Games account, and to let our other
games recognise the same player. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else, and nothing is used for
advertising.
Where. Gausaa ID runs on Cloudflare's network, like our game server (Cloudflare, Inc. hosts it
for us and processes this data only to run it). Google handles the Play Games sign-in under the
Google Privacy Policy.
How long. As long as you use it: a Gausaa Games account nobody signs in with for a year is
deleted, with its links. Deleting it (below) removes it at once, together with the online accounts linked to it in
all our games.
Wi-Fi battles
WI-FI BATTLE lets two players fight each other on two devices on the same local network (the same Wi-Fi, or
one device sharing its hotspot). It only connects when you choose HOST or JOIN, and only directly to the other
player's device at the address you enter. The two devices exchange only what the fight needs: button presses,
fighter picks, the match settings, the game version and the look each player chose (title, avatar frame, aura
colours, skin). None of it is stored by the game or sent anywhere else.
What stays on your device
The game saves your settings and progress (coins, unlocked items, records and missions) in files on your device.
These files never leave the device through the game; only the achievements and scores described under Google Play
Games are sent to Google, while you are signed in. If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may
include them in your own Google backup so your progress can come back on a new phone; that backup belongs to your
Google account and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the game deletes these files.
Permissions
The game uses three Android permissions:
vibration, for short feedback when you press a touch button. You can turn it off in the game:
Settings > Controls > Vibration;
network access (Android's "internet" permission), for ONLINE play with our server, for WI-FI
BATTLE, to connect to the other player's device on your local network, and for Google Play Games while you are
signed in;
keeping the Wi-Fi awake (Android's "wake lock" permission), only while a WI-FI BATTLE or an
online fight is connected, so the Wi-Fi answers quickly instead of saving power between button presses.
Deleting your data
Space Cats by Gausaa Games keeps data about you on a server only for online play. You can delete all of it
yourself, at any time, like this.
Your online account (your #tag, ranked points, league and fight history on
our server): in the game, open ONLINE > ACCOUNT > DELETE ONLINE ACCOUNT and confirm. The account and its
standing are deleted from our server at once, and your id is removed from the fights it was in (those fights
stay counted for the other players). If you can no longer open the game, e-mail
gausaa.games@gmail.com with your online name and #tag as the game
shows them (on ONLINE > ACCOUNT, for example MIA #4821 or STREET CAT #4821) and we delete it within 30 days. Uninstalling the game does not delete the online account;
an account nobody uses for a year is deleted automatically.
Your Gausaa Games account (the link between your Play Games account and
your online accounts in our games): in the game, open ONLINE > ACCOUNT > DELETE FROM ALL GAUSAA GAMES and
confirm. It is deleted at once, and so are the online accounts linked to it in every Gausaa Games game, this one's
included. If you can no longer open the game, e-mail
gausaa.games@gmail.com with your online name and #tag as the game
shows them (on ONLINE > ACCOUNT) and we delete it within 30 days. The steps for all our games are also at
mobahug.github.io/gausaa/delete.html.
Your Google Play Games data for Space Cats (achievements and leaderboard scores):
on Android, open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon (top right), then Settings > General >
Play Games Profile > Privacy & Settings; under "Your Data" tap Delete profile & game data, then under
"Delete individual game data" find Space Cats and tap Delete;
on the web, go to play.google.com/games/profile, click
Your Data > Delete Play Games Account & Data, then Delete next to Space Cats.
The same page can delete your whole Play Games profile. Google deletes this data permanently
(Google's help page).
Your progress and settings on your device: uninstall Space Cats, or clear its storage
(Android's Settings > Apps > Space Cats > Storage > Clear storage). They are deleted at once.
Your Android backup of the game, if Android backup is on: it belongs to your Google Account,
where you can delete your device backups (Google Drive > Backups).
Once your online account and your Gausaa Games account are deleted, nothing about you is retained on our side. Google may keep data as the
Google Privacy Policy describes. Questions:
gausaa.games@gmail.com.
Children
Space Cats is not directed at children under 13. Online play collects only the online account, the ranked
results and, with Google Play Games, the account link and the Play Games name described above, and lets nobody type
messages or names. Google
Play Games, if used, is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date and in the game
(Settings > Game > Privacy Policy).
